Enamel and Dentin play a very important role in determining the color of your teeth. If enamel is deteriorated in any way, then it displays its underneath part that is Dentin and is yellow in color. Enamel may get weakened due to aging, or food and drinks may stain the white enamel and turn it pale. Various remedies can be practiced at home to turn the yellow teeth into white again.

There is various treatment available for the lost strength of enamel but it is suggested to take proper oral and dental care to keep the teeth healthy and enamel layer intact.

Baking Soda and Lemon Juice Paste
Sodium bicarbonate also is known as baking soda can be used to remove the yellow stains from the teeth as it is abrasive in nature. Gently rubbing the baking soda on the stains can remove them and turn the yellow teeth into white all over again.
Baking soda is alkaline, so if you intake the acidic food, then it can be used to balance the ph of the mouth and break down the yellow part on the enamel.
Baking soda can work wonders if it is used with lemon, which is also a bleaching agent. Though lemon is acidic in nature, the alkalinity of sodium bicarbonate makes it neutral. Sodium bicarbonate can also do the needful if used with water.
How to Use the Mixture of Baking Soda and Lemon Juice
Take the required ingredients:
- Baking soda in a good fresh lemon juice or water.
Mix the ingredients to make a thick paste. Then wipe your teeth dry and apply the paste with the help of a brush. You can allow the mixture to rest for 1 min if lemon juice is used else with water the paste can be left maximum till 3 minutes.
Scrub Containing Strawberry, Salt, and Baking Soda
One of the other reasons that make your teeth to appear yellow is a plaque. Plaque is a layer of a sticky yellow substance that gets collected on the outer surface of your teeth and fades its whiteness. Strawberry is helpful in breaking down that plaque due to the high presence of Vitamin C in it. Strawberry also contains an enzyme known as malic acid which helps in removal of surface stains.
The salt in the scrub act as the caustic agent that physically helps to get rid of stains. Baking soda is used to maintain the pH balance of the mouth. If it is not mixed in the scrub, the scrub is still beneficial, and it works perfectly.
How to Use the Scrub:
The scrub can be formed by mixing well the following ingredients:
- 1 to 3 strawberries large.
- A pinch of salt.
- Half teaspoon baking soda (not mandatory).
Make the pulp out of strawberries by mashing it. Then add the defined amount of salt and baking soda to it to make a thick paste. Take the mixture in the brush and apply it over teeth generously allowing it to rest for 5 minutes. For better results, the scrub should be used every night.
This is an age-old remedy that is tried since years for whitening of teeth. Rinsing the mouth with coconut oil helps absurdly in improving the shades of your teeth.
Coconut oil may not be good to taste, but the remedy is useful. The oil is acidic in nature containing lauric acid which stops the plaque formation by killing the bacteria responsible for its build up.
Coconut oil is very beneficial as it not only removes the plaque and whitens your teeth but also improves the gum health and lets you maintain the fresh breath.
How to Use?
Get a spoon of coconut oil in your mouth. Swish and swirl it all at least 10 to 15 minutes and then spit. Wash your mouth with water.
This should be practiced before brushing your teeth in the morning or at night. If the coconut oil remedy is used combined with the strawberry scrub or baking soda paste on a regular basis, the results can be better.
Though home remedies do not come up with instant results yet they provide you the expected results over the time. Healthier teeth and overall a fresh mouth can be experienced if we adopt them in our daily life.
