Chakras are wheels or spirals of energy located in different parts of our body. There are seven main chakras in the various levels from head to the tip of the spinal cord at the tail bone. The first chakra at the tail bone is called the Root Chakra. And as we ascend towards the head the chakras that follow are: –
They can be imagined or visualized as swirling wheels of energy, with each having a distinct color. The proper functioning of these energy centers ensures perfect mental, emotional, spiritual and physical well-being. 1. Chakra Meditation
To begin with chakra meditation, it is important to keep two factors in mind. First, is focusing on the cause of the chakra imbalance. This can be addressed by going deep into yourself in meditation and once you have reached that calming awareness, keep asking yourself what the real cause of your distress, your present situation, etc is. In the next step, meditate to release the feelings of hurt, anger, and resentment.
There are many audios available by well-known masters you walk you through the various steps in the chakra meditation, helping you to focus and find that inner core of being with much ease. One powerful meditation is to meditate in a particular color, breathing it in and directing its charged energy to the chakra and activating/balancing it.
2. Color Therapy for Chakra Balancing
When we expose ourselves to different colors, our moods, emotions, and even our physical state experience certain changes. In fact, we can restore the balance in our chakras by using the therapeutic powers of colors. Few ways we can expose ourselves to certain colors is by enhancing individual color aspects in our home, including a particular color of food items in our diet and definitely, by wearing clothes of a certain color. You could also wear colored glasses and that too will help in absorbing the vibration that is needed by our body.
Each chakra corresponds to a particular color. Every color in the spectrum reflects the light of a specific wavelength, and each one has its unique energy. Red has the longest and violet has the shortest wavelength. The spectrum color resonates with the energy of the chakras, and so, by exposing yourself to a particular color, you can restore the balance of these energy wheels.
The color violet corresponds to the crown chakra, indigo to the brow chakra, blue to the throat chakra, green to the heart chakra, yellow to the solar plexus chakra, orange to the sacral chakra and finally, red to the base chakra. These colors are absorbed by our electromagnetic field and also, our eyes, skull, and skin.
3. Aromatherapy for Chakra Balancing
The aromatic essential oils are substantially effective in healing the chakras and are often combined with massages to enhance the effect. The oils of Patchouli and Frankincense amongst others are considered very useful for correcting the root chakra. The oils give a sense of ground and stability. A few inches below the belly button, in the lower abdomen, lies the sacral chakra associated with creativity and sexuality. The oils of Ylang ylang and sandalwood have aphrodisiac effects on our body and fill up with sexual and reproductive energies.
The solar plexus chakra in the upper abdomen is for confidence and self-esteem, and with the help of peppermint and cinnamon oils we can calm down and balance this powerful chakra. Located in the heart region is the heart chakra and the essential oil of rose enhances the energies of love and romance associated with this chakra, alleviating insomnia and depression. The throat chakra is the energy center for self-expression. Using the oil of eucalyptus balances the throat chakra as it relieves from a sore throat and cough, clears sinuses, and clears the passageway for freedom of expression.
The third eye chakra lies on the forehead in between the eyes and is the intuitive head. The calming lavender oil balances this chakra by relieving headaches which are a sign that the natural eye is blocked. At the very top of our head is the crown chakra which connects us to the Universe or God. The spiritually charged oil of Frankincense ushers in clarity and mental peace.

Solfeggio is one very popular technique which uses various sound frequencies to heal the imbalanced chakras. The Isochronic chakra suite uses brainwave entrainment techniques and the healing sound of Tibetan singing bowls along with Solfeggio. The use of mantras and vowels are also emphasized upon for balancing the chakras.

The chakra stones and crystals are made of specific colors that have particular vibrations which help in healing and balancing our energy wheels. While usually the stones of a certain color are used in balancing a particular chakra, multiple chakra healing is also possible with a few unique stones. The pure, spectral colors of the stones energetically influence our senses, harmonizing the mind, body and the soul.
The root chakra is identified with the color red. Garnet, red jasper, and onyx are used in balancing it. The orange navel chakra is healed with orange zincite and carnelian. 6. Yoga and Pranayama in Healing Chakras
When one or more of the chakras are stuck, it is beneficial to release the blocked energy to give it a more fluid movement. This energy is called Prana in Sanskrit which literally translates to the life force. The various Yogic postures and breathing techniques called pranayama help to stretch the body and exert the mind helping us to release the blocked and stagnant energy.
