On Friday, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer made an announcement about the new appointments made to the Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness, Health and Sports.
The following appointments have been made. Marquette’s Brigitte R. LaPointe-Dunham, the Director of Upper Peninsula Health Plan’s strategic initiatives. She is also a member of the Marquette County Parks and Rec Advisory Board and the Lake Superior Community Partnership Board of Directors. LaPointe-Dunham succeeds Nolan Moody, whose term got over on 30 April, 2019.
Detroit’s Dexter C. Mason, the Director, Events and Marketing, Ross Initiative in Sports for Equality (RISE), succeeds Raquel Thueme, whose term got over on 30 April, 2019.
Mackinac Island’s Mary Patay is the Mackinac Island’s recreation director and also coaches Varsity Soccer, Varsity Golf for Mackinac Public Schools and Varsity Girls Basketball. She succeeds Tori sager, who term got over on 30 April, 2019.
Berkley’s Todd Turner, who owns GUTS Training Center and is also the Team GUTS co-founder, succeeds Peaches McCahill, whose term got over on 30 April, 2019.
Grand Rapids’s Edwin T. Kornoelje, the Grand Rapids Griffins Hockey and Grand Rapids Drive Basketball team’s head physician has been reappointed and his term would expire on 30 April, 2021.
Florine Mark’s Florine Mark, who serves as the CEO and president of the WW Group Inc. has also been reappointed and her term would be expiring on 30 April, 2021.
Notably, all of these appointments aren’t subject to Senate’s consent and advice.
