Hair Transplant Process-
For those affected by androgenic alopecia, more commonly referred to as pattern baldness patients will keep an area around the back and sides of their head which isn’t suffering from the balding process. This area is called as the donor region. When hair is picked from the donor area and transplanted into a bald area, the hair will maintain the characteristics of the area from where it came. This suggests that the hair will remain unaffected by the balding process in its new location and can stay on the person’s head for the rest of their lives. A patient is going to be kept awake throughout the method and can not feel any pain as an anesthetic is used throughout the procedure. After removing from the donor area, each hair graft is ready individually for transplantation and at the same time, small incisions are made within the recipient areas where the new grafts are to be transplanted. Over 4000 hair grafts are often transplanted during a single day’s transplant procedure. The procedure is administered during the course of one day taking anywhere
between six and ten hours. Most patients return to daily routine life within a couple of days. Remember that the transplanted hair is permanent. So, the planning of each patient’s transplant must be done properly to make sure that it looks natural for the rest of the patient’s life & that’s why it should only be administered by a professional consultant surgeon.
Post-Surgery Care-
The days and weeks following your transplant procedure are critically important and it is necessary to follow all the post-operative instructions to make sure a successful outcome. Here are a couple of the rules that you can simply follow to make sure a successful hair transplant.
Spraying-
Immediately after your transplant, you’ll get to start spraying your hair. you’ll got to spray the transplanted area and therefore the stitches within the donor area every 20 minutes for the primary 12 hours. A little spray bottle and a bottle of saline are going to be provided upon discharge from the clinic. Before you spray, put some towels around your shoulders and let all the water drip down. you’ll have to spray vigorously. While spraying, keep the sprayer a minimum of two to three inches faraway from your head. Use both hands to make sure you fully soak both the transplanted and therefore the donor areas. Always use your left hand to spray on your left side, and the right to spray on the right side. Once the saline has been completely used, you’ll spray using ordinary water. It’s necessary for the survival of the newly transplanted hair grafts that they be kept hydrated well throughout this initial phase. Spraying also prevents any scab formation on the transplanted and donor areas.
Avoid Touching-
During the primary three days, immediately post-surgery, don’t touch the transplanted hair. If you would like to comb your hair, only do so when it’s soaking wet. Gently skim the comb over your hair. Don’t roughly press the comb down onto the scalp of the recipient area. On day four, fill a clean bowl with water, and add a couple of drops of tea tree shampoo. Mix it well until it’s soapy. Pour this carefully over the transplanted and the donor areas. Don’t rub the transplanted area. Pat down gently on the grafts. Wash the suture line of the donor area gently in a circular motion. Allow your hair to dry naturally. If necessary, you’ll pat it dry with a clean towel gently. This regime should be administered once per day, from day 4 to day 14.
Avoid Heavy Exercise-
It’s important to know that after three days swelling can occur. If it does, it’s going to take up to 3 days to resolve. During the initial 10-15 days don’t wear a hat, don’t use a hot shower, don’t use any hair products, and don’t use a hairdryer. It is also recommended to avoid heavy work or strenuous exercise for subsequent four weeks. Your stitches are going to be removed 7-10 days after the procedure.
The above-mentioned instructions are for FUT hair transplant. For FUE procedures, follow the same post-op instructions. However, you’ll return to exercise after 14 days in the case of FUE. For eyebrow transplants, follow the same instructions, but protect your eyes with a towel while spraying the saline. Wash your hands regularly before spraying. Before applying the tea tree shampoo, always use the alcohol hand gel provided. Consult your doctor if you’ve any concerns or questions during the initial post-op period.
