Whether you’re interested in taking CBD oil for pain, using it to relieve anxiety, or just want to experience the best CBD oil possible, chances are you’ve wondered when is the right time to try these attractive and innovative products. In particular, does your age disqualify you from using them?
According to Inesa Ponomariovaite, holistic health practitioner and founder of Nesa’s Hemp, no one should be afraid of the hemp plant or products that have been derived from it. That goes for children as well as adults.
Can children take CBD?
“Based on FDA guidelines, CBD is not recommended for anyone underage,” Ponomariovaite acknowledges. In her opinion, however, high-quality certified hemp products with no THC should be available even for children.
According to Ponomariovaite, the endocannabinoids found in the hemp plant are essential for human health and wellbeing. “Our bodies produce natural cannabinoids that are responsible for controlling our biological systems,” she explains. “One of these is the endocannabinoid system, which is scientifically proven to exist in all of us, and we’re born with it.”
In this way, taking CBD provides a natural way to help the body help itself. “If the products are safe and healthy, then they should be essential to any human body,” she says. “Our bodies already produce cannabinoids naturally and cannot function without them.”
The human endocannabinoid system deteriorates over time, however. “As we get exposed to toxic food, alcohol, and stress, we lose our essential endocannabinoid system,” Ponomariovaite explains. “As our bodies lose the ability to produce cannabinoids, imbalances strike hundreds of bodily functions.”
High-quality CBD can reverse these trends. “We’ve witnessed excellent results on inflammation, mental disorders, pain, sleep, stress, anxiety, and many more,” she says. “With my experience working with thousands of people, I’ve never seen anyone that hasn’t seen positive results with our safe and effective product. The support that comes with taking CBD is necessary, not just recommended. These products are essential to our bodies to stay healthy and maintain homeostasis.”
Beware of untested CBD
Ponomariovaite recommends caution when choosing CBD products, however. According to her, understanding what’s in your bottle is of the utmost importance.
“Right now, the CBD industry isn’t regulated,” Ponomariovaite explains, “meaning producers aren’t accountable for what they bring to market.” For this reason, she doesn’t recommend many existing products that contain CBD.
“Most CBD providers choose profit over the people,” she adds. “Many products on the market are labeled and marketed extremely well, but have no laboratory test results to prove their safety and effectiveness. Independent studies have shown that products sold on the market contain dangerous metals, herbicides, pesticides, bacteria, mold, and even some substances that make people addicted to these products.”
In particular, Ponomariovaite warns against products from genetically-modified and engineered high-THC level plants. “High levels of THC never exist in nature, so please don’t get tricked,” she says. “These products aren’t healthy for your body, regardless of what someone might have told you. They’re especially harmful when someone suggests you smoke it because then it’s entirely carcinogenic for your lungs and brain.”
So, what’s a CBD customer to do? Ponomariovaite advises seeking out CBDa products that can prove their safety and effectiveness.
What’s CBDa?
CBDa is a next-generation therapeutic treatment that preserves the hemp plant’s healing properties. Ponomariovaite calls it “living CBD,” opposing it to “dead” CBD that has had many of these important compounds removed. Initial studies have shown CBDa to be effective in treating certain cancers, as well as anxiety, seizures, and inflammation.
“I only recommend CBDa hemp products if the manufacturer can prove those specific bottles are safe,” Ponomariovaite says. “The manufacturer should provide lab results that show every bottle is entirely free from mycotoxins in parts per billion.”
The lab results you view should be specific to your bottle. “Make sure the testing batch number on your bottle is the same as the batch number on the lab result,” Ponomariovaite says. “While I wish it wasn’t true, some laboratories are willing to provide false information, which is why you should also ensure the lab results come from an official FDA-registered laboratory.”
Given the state of this market, Ponomariovaite emphasizes the responsibility that falls on consumers to choose their cannabis products wisely. “Unfortunately, many companies just want to make a quick buck, so they put unsafe products on the market,” she says. “It’s your job to know better and work with companies that choose people over profit.”
Stay healthy and balanced with CBDa
The good news is that there’s no such thing as being “too old” to start taking CBDa. “Cannabinoids are essential to your body,” Ponomariovaite says. “It simply cannot be too late. For example, our bodies contain 70% water, and it’s never too late to start drinking water.”
Whether you are young, old, or middle-aged, CBDa can help. “The true hemp plant has a beautiful message for all of us,” Ponomariovaite remarks. “It’s essential for us to stay healthy and balanced.”
