An anal fissure is a problem when your skin tears or sore around the anus. It causes the burning sensation when you have a bowel movement and is very difficult for the person to bear the pain. It is mostly found in adults but can affect anyone irrespective of their age group.

Drinking Plenty of Water

It’s the simplest way to treat any of the infection you are suffering from. Drinking plenty of water makes sure to hold healthy nutrients in your blood cells and flush out the toxin from the body. At least make sure to drink eight glasses of water per day.


Maintaining a proper hygiene can help you to fight with anal fissure. Keep your affected area dry and clean. Dust some baby powder after taking a bath.

Use a soft paper towel to clean up the area after a bowel movement. Wear cotton loose fitting underwear for circulation of air.

Hot and Cold Fomentation

This method will give you relief from the pain. Take a clean towel dip it in hot water and then apply it on your affected area. Repeat this for three times a day.

Follow the same procedure, with cold water, but with cold water, you have to do it only once.

Coconut Oil

No doubt consuming fiber in your diet will increase your metabolism and will boost up your bowel movement. You don’t have to apply a lot of pressure as fiber intake will also soften your stool. Consult your doctor for fiber supplements, or include a fiber-rich ingredient in your diet like,

  • Sunflower seeds.
  • Homemade popcorns.
  • Pumpkin seeds.
  • Legumes.
  • Spinach.
  • Oatmeal.
  • Quinoa.

When you are increasing fiber in your diet make sure to drink a lot of water. Otherwise, it will be discomforting to your stomach.

Olive Oil

Like coconut oil olive oil will also help in lubricating your anal. It makes it easier to pass stool. In addition to this olive oil is rich in antioxidant property which helps in reducing pain.

What you need

  • One tbsp of olive oil.
  • One tbsp of honey.
  • One tbsp of beeswax.
  • A bowl.


  • Mix the whole ingredient in a bowl.
  • Warm it in a microwave till beeswax melts.
  • Allow it to cool down.
  • Apply it in an affected area.
  • Repeat this few times in a day for two weeks.

Apple Cider Vinegar

It is the most popular home remedy to treat constipation which causes the anal fissure. Apple cider vinegar contains pectin which helps in bowel movement and keeps your digestive system healthy.

What you need

  • 1 cup of water.
  • 1-2 tbsp of apple cider vinegar.
  • One tbsp of honey.


  • Mix 1-2 tbsp of apple cider vinegar and 1 Tsp of honey in one cup of water.
  • Consume it twice a day.

Petroleum Jelly

Using petroleum jelly will lubricate, and cause less pain. Applying petroleum jelly in your rectum every time before passing on the stool will prevent tear and crack in your skin.

Hot Sitz Bath

Hot sitz bath eliminates the discomfort and heals the anal fissure. It increases the blood flow in the anal area which eases the minor tear of the tissue.


  • Fill a bathtub with warm water.
  • Add 1-2 drops of lavender essential oil in it.
  • Sit still for 15-20 minutes.
  • Repeat this 2-3 times a day.

Wheat Germ oil

Wheat germ oil will decrease the healing time and prevent inflammation and infection in open wounds. Directly apply wheat germ oil in your anus and wipe it out with clean tissue paper after 30 minutes. Repeat this twice a day.


Make use of flaxseed as they are rich in omega -3 fatty acid, flaxseed contains laxative properties which help in smooth bowel movement. You can consult your doctor for flax seed supplement and correct dosage of them.

Or mix one tsp of flaxseed powder in one glass of water and consume it daily before your bedtime.

Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera helps in relieving pain and naturally heals the tear and crack in your anal.

What you need

  • Aloe Vera leaves.


  • Slice it open a leave and extract gel from it.
  • Apply directly on the affected area.
  • Use gel twice a day in a day.


It is popular herbs that help in relieving anal fissure pain and discomfort, it regenerates the skin and produces rapid cell growth.

What you need

  • One tbsp of dried comfrey herb.
  • 1 cup of hot water.


  • Add one tbsp of dried comfrey in 1 cup of hot water.
  • Let it steep for 10-15 minutes.
  • Strain it and clean the affected area two to three times in a day.
  • Or apply a comfrey ointment available in pharmacy in the affected area.


Milk properly function your body, it soothes the bowel movement and maintains healthy digestive system. Drink warm milk every night before going to bed to take the best result out of it.


Going on fruit diet will help in smooth bowel movement, drink any fruit juice in every two hours this is much like drinking plenty of water but in a tastier way.

L-arginine Gel

If an amino acid that heals anal fissure it increases the nitric oxide in the affected area and promotes fast healing. Apply it in affected area for few times in a day.

Pineapple juice This fresh, delicious pineapple has abundant of fiber in it which helps in healthy digestion.

Avoid Constipation Food
